As per the Dutch pharmacologist Jan Keppel Hesselink, the secretion of the frog contains at least three bioactive peptides that exhibit notable pain-relieving properties. Among these peptides, dermorphin and cerulein AN activate the morphine-related opioid receptor, MOR, while another peptide, deltrophin AN, demonstrates a high affinity for the delta-opioid receptor, DOR. The morphine-related opioid receptor, similar to morphine, can induce side effects such as nausea, sweating, dizziness, and vomiting. In contrast, the delta-opioid receptors do not produce these side effects. The properties of deltrophin enhance endurance and the ability to manage pain, making it effective in enhancing the performance of racing horses, as evidenced by remarkable results.

Cerulein and sauvagine are noted for their ability to induce a profound and prolonged hypotensive effect accompanied by tachycardia. Dermaseptin B2, discovered in the secretion of Phyllomedusa bicolor in 2012, holds significant promise in non-invasive cancer treatment, according to Dutch researcher Hanneke van Zoggel and her team. This peptide is considered a potential alternative to aggressive cancer treatments like chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, with proven inhibitory effects on various cancer types and the ability to promote healthy blood vessel growth, known as angiostasis.

Studies indicate that dermaseptin B2 can inhibit prostate cancer growth by 90%, and research by Van Zoggel highlights its effectiveness against prostatic adenocarcinomas, certain pancreatic cancer cell-lines, and breast cancer adenoma.

Dutch scholar Emiel Bartels and team conducted a comprehensive review of dermaseptins in 2019, revealing not only the peptide's anti-tumorigenic properties but also its antimicrobial effects against bacteria, parasites, protozoa, and viruses. Dermaseptins show promise in addressing infections such as Lyme disease, genital infections (HPV, HSV, candida), HIV-1, and skin infections. In the third ceremony, cellular absorption of the medicine is 100%.
